breaking down medical terms

Avoiding Information Overload in Your Medical Practice Websites

One of the biggest problems encountered by the people who are medical practice website designers is trying to find the balance between content and the viewers attention span. The problem with a Medical Website is that it may be necessary to use Medical Terms and other words that people do not understand in order to fully explain their services. When this happens, the articles and other content can get too information-filled as the writer struggles to explain one term that would be used to explain another.

When articles get too wordy and explanation-filled, the readers of the website can get turned off. This is because they suffer from information overload and could not understand whatever you are saying through your medical practice website. On the other hand, summarizing too much can lead to people feeling confused as they just end up with vague descriptions of the practice’s capabilities.

To help those who are medical practice website designers and are suffering from the same problem, here are some tips that can be used to avoid information overload in your websites:

Come up with a glossary page

A glossary is a list (usually alphabetically arranged) of the technical terms that you use for the entire website. You could make a separate page so that the visitors could at least gain a basic grasp of the medical jargon that is necessary to make medical practice website design work.

By doing this, you would provide a separate section for the visitors and readers to understand the terms that you use throughout the site, without having to lengthen all of the articles just to make explanations on some of the words that you are going to use.

Break up content into chunks

Another key tip for finding the balance in medical practice website design and information overload is to break up the content of your website into different chunks. This could mean that your articles would be segmented into manageable chunks, or that you would provide different types of media to get your point across.

You could use images in one section, text on another part, and even videos for another section. This would help break the monotony and make reading the content of the website that much more interesting.

Add links to the source sites

Lastly, you may want to just add some links to the source sites or expert sites to be able to fully explain your content. For example, you can talk about a certain disease and your treatment, but do not delve fully into detail. You can simply add a link at the bottom which reads “If you want to know more about this kind of disease, then click here.” This link would then point to a site whose expertise revolves around the explanations (encyclopedia sites are a good choice).

This would enable your casual readers to browse through your content, while those who seek more information would be able to just click on the link and get what they need.

If you think this is too much to consider for simple medical practice website design, then a better choice may be to find a good service provider who would do these things for you!

This is a historical and literary novel that revolves around characters originating in West and East Pakistan who love each other and marry, but their marriage is deeply affected by the violence that overtakes the country and the ultimate dismemberment of Pakistan. This coming apart is the centre of this novel. The author has built her story around the looming crisis and the final hour of disintegration and dissolution. A compelling tale of love gone awry through a grievous sense of ‘honor’ reaching out across generations, this is a novel dealing with ‘History with a capital H.’ a basic contextualization of this book within this history may be useful for its non-Pakistani readers, but even within the country, younger readers especially need to be reminded of what ensued, since Pakistan has not effectively addressed nor come to terms with the forces and factors which created an irreconcilable chasm and subsequently, the cataclysmic events terminating in the country’s break-up as well as the emergence of Bangladesh as a sovereign state. Such an assessment is still conspicuous by its absence in the country’s curriculum and some textbooks that ascribe to the ever-popular and ubiquitous ‘conspiracy’ theory.

A new team of Crashers fights time, as a fire rages ever closer to the wreckage, conflicting and confusing evidence, and unpredictable outside forces trying to prevent them from uncovering the truth. With alllies – unseen and even unknown – working behind the scenes to help them, the team is trapped in the midst of a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse with the deadliest of consquences, a game that not all of them will survive…

Parasuicidality and Paradox: Breaking Through the Medical Model

$38.94

"Ross Ellenhorn brings a fresh, new look at what has been called parasuicidality. Rather seeing it solely as a medicalized symptom of mental disorder, he incisively shows how threats of suicide emerge from the social context and can be better understood and treated within a framework of social relationships. This well documented and clearly written book is must reading for anyone interested in better understanding and dealing with parasuicidality. " "This book deals with the issue of parasuicidality using a dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) approach, but posits that clinical interactions aid and abet that specific behavior. It presents both theoretical and pragmatic ideas of how to deal wi th patients who often pose the greatest challenge to clinicians. " Gary B Kaniuk, Psy.D. (Cermak Health Services) –Peter Conrad, Harry Coplan Professor of Social Sciences, Brandeis University, and author of "The Medicalization of Society: On the Transformation of Human Conditions into Medical Disorders" In this unique and groundbreaking book, Dr. Ellenhorn offers a very different approach to assisting parasuicidal patients with their problems, an approach that avoids medicalized interactions while enhancing authentic encounters with patients. He makes extensive use of vignettes to demonstrate various types of scenarios between clinicians and patients. A number of other effective techniques are discussed, including: Ways to enhance team treatment planning through a brainstorming process called "The Hourglass" Alternative methods of documenting treatment that serves to protect clinicians from concerns about liability Helping patients focus on life goals and changing themselves through clinician-patient interactions

Epidemiological Research: Terms and Concepts

Epidemiological Research: Terms and Concepts

$67.27

This book is by a single author – someone who, after medical school, has devoted half-a-century of full-time effort to ever better understand both clinical and community medicine and the research that is needed to produce the scientific knowledge-base of these. The book is organized so as to address in separate sections first the preparatory topics of medicine (clinical and epidemiological), science in general, and statistics (mathematical); then topics of epidemiological research proper; and, finally, topics of ‘meta-epidemiological’ clinical research. In those two main sections, a further grouping is based on the distraction between objects and methods of study. In this framework, the particular topics are addressed both descriptively and quasi-prescriptively, commonly with a number of explicatory annotations. This book is intended to serve and a "handbook" for whomever is, in whatever way, concerned with epidemiological or ‘meta-epidemiological’ clinical research. But besides, it is intended to serve as a "textbook" for the students in introductory courses on ‘epidemiological’ research – to which end there is a suggested hierarchy of the concepts that might reasonably be covered.

The Other Side of Chaos: Breaking Through When Life Is Breaking Down

$9.25

Discover a new way to navigate chaos and to find meaning in the messes of life. From satisfying work to sudden unemployment. From a happy marriage to a hurtful divorce. From caring for the kids to caring for an aging parent. These are just a few of the countless ways that life hurls us into the chaos of change, where our certainties are shaken and our faith may even begin to falter. But what if we saw the chaos of our lives not as something to fear or eschew, but as something to be embraced? What if we saw life’s unexpected transitions as God’s raw materials for bringing about a new creation, in us and in our world? In "The Other Side of Chaos," best-selling author Margaret Silf looks closely at the subject of chaos–and the intrinsic transition it brings–through the lens of Christian spirituality. In fact, she begins by reminding readers that the entire Christian faith rests on a point of breakdown–Calvary–which becomes, for humankind, the gateway to an unimaginable breakthrough. Through Scripture stories and verses, personal accounts, and other anecdotes, Silf helps us develop an authentic "spirituality of transition" that leads us to live out life’s changes constructively and creatively. Ultimately, "The Other Side of Chaos" gives us the courage to trust God when life is breaking down and to see our messes not as something to be rescued from, but as something that will help us break through to a place where God makes all things new.

Life on My Terms: A Physician's Autobiography

Life on My Terms: A Physician’s Autobiography

$18

It never would have occurred to me to record the story of my life; I believed it to be of little public interest . However, Professor Jonathan Halevy, director general of Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where I have helped to establish a center for humanistic medicine, and other friends believed otherwise. They maintained that the men and women who will learn from and be served by the institutions I have been able to help with gifts in support of humanistic values would like some idea of who I am. In response to their urging I have attempted to present an accurate portrait of a fortunate man.

Perfection: Coming to Terms with Being Human

Perfection: Coming to Terms with Being Human

$9.34

In a masterful survey of the history of the idea of human perfection, prize-winning author and noted rhetorician Michael J. Hyde leads a fascinating excursion through Western philosophy, religion, science, and art. Eloquently and engagingly he delves the canon of Western thought, drawing on figures from St. Augustine and John Rawls to Leonardo da Vinci and David Hume to Kenneth Burke and Mary Shelley. On the journey, Hyde expounds on the very notion and aOthernessa of God, the empirical and ontological workings of daily existence, the development of reason, and the bounds of beauty. In the end, he ponders the consequences of the perfection-driven impulse of medical science and considers the implications of the bourgeoning rhetoric of aour posthuman future.a It is nothing short of a triumphant examination of why we humans are challenged to live a life of significant insignificance.
